Founded by woodworker and sculptor Joshua Friedman in collaboration with Lindsey Muscato, Base 10 is a small studio located in Los Angeles and specializing in solid wood furniture. Influenced by Friedman's years of experience in Japanese woodworking, our furniture is crafted using traditional hand tools, joinery, and techniques.

Base 10 furiture is made with deliberate simplicity and exacting detail, respectful of the inherent grace in the traditions we engage and the materials we work with. We are interested in creating an impression of inevitable beauty, of effortless balance.

Rooted in simple geometries and proportions, our designs are intentionally without excess. We strive for timeless forms made with heirloom workmanship.

Both originally from Southern California, Joshua Friedman and Lindsey Muscato studied fine art in the San Francisco Bay Area.

After receiving a Bachelors of Fine Art in sculpture, Friedman turned his focus to woodworking. He apprenticed in Japanese-style timber framing, finish carpentry, and furniture making with Joinery Structures in Oakland, California.

After living in the Bay Area and New York City, Friedman and Muscato returned to their native Southern California to launch Base 10. They live and work in Los Angeles with their two sons.
